The Miracle of the Double Cola
After nearly dying in the hospital from alcohol abuse I became sober by going to an outpatient treatment center program which got me to AA. After about 90 days I decided I didn’t need AA anymore... I became a Christian. After being Sober for 2 years I lost my marriage, my house and my job of 21 years. After making it 2 weeks I quit praying. After 6 weeks I relapsed. I began a serious descent into hell. After getting envolved with crack cocaine I drank and smoked my life’s savings away. I ended up at the Memphis Union Mission. It is a Christian organization that cares for the homeless.
I ended up being the cook. Now one of the few little “treasures” I was able to enjoy was, after feeding and bedding down the homeless, sitting out in front of the mission and enjoying a Double Cola and burping and just generally feeling “blessed”... On this particicular night I did not have a dollar for one, nor was there anyone else around who did. So on this night I didn’t get my precious Double Cola. But for some reason upon retiring as I said my prayers, I said “God I didn’t get my Double Cola tonight and it is O.K. because I know you are still with me and have me in a safe place... Thanks anyway...”
The next morning one of the guys who was away the night before on an outside job at the mission came up to me and asked, “Tony did you get a Double Cola last night?” I said well as a matter of fact I didn’t. He said he had just sold a suit some stranger had given him for $8 and he wanted to buy me Double Cola. I said thanks man. He said, “Don’t thank me, thank God... He spoke to my heart and told me to make sure you got a Double Cola tonight...”
I had tears in my eyes as I thought of a God so loving that he was aware of something as small as this... I thought if he cares enough of me to take the time to do this, what would he do for me if I remained faithful? Well after leaving there I ended up relapsing again and after 2 more treatment centers and a nut house I finally realized I was an Alcoholic. I am in AA now and by the grace of God and the fellowship of AA I am now going on 4 years sobriety. He has blessed me with a new wife. He brought her to me all the way from Oregon to Tennessee, and she just Celebrated two years sobriety also. I drive a new Saturn. I have a place to live and a good job. All of this stuff is great but it is all because I have been given the eyes to see I am an alcoholic and I never want to forget that, nor the fact that if he loves me enough to take care of a Double cola will also take care of me, If I do the things the people he has sent to me suggest...
May God bless and keep you!

I've been without alcohol for 2and one-half years. My worst days are now better than my best used to be. I only regret that I didn't meet you people 30 years ago. It's great to belong to something. Especially with the people I have met in such a short time.

I have not had a drink for two days now. Hope to God that I will stay sober, I must stay sober for I have screwed up my relationship with my family now. Please grant me strength to make amends to my family and hope that never will I be drunk ever again in my life. Thank you my Lord for giving me strength.

I am currently having a horrible time and getting drunk does not make it better. I pray to God for strength to quit and I hope I will do it.

10 1/2 yrs. continous sobriety by the grace of God, sponsorship, and action. My sponsor is 37 yrs. sober and we still get eyeball to eyeball often.

Do you want to quit for good? Then hand your will over to God, follow the INSTRUCTIONS and let the power of that loving God take you back to the place you were before the hell that is alcohol took away your happiness joyousness, and freedom.

In January I celebrated 8 years sobriety. I don't like celebrating birthdays, but I have to remeber that the birthdays are my way of showing that AA does work. I have found that in the last couple of years that I have a difficulty wanting to go to meetings. Can someone tell me, is this a stage in middle sobriety?

hello family! as i browse through all of the "aa sites", my heart fills with gratitude and love for this fellowship and these people...i never dreamed i would have the life i have today...when i first came to aa, this is not what i wanted to be when i grew up...i'm so glad that God has a better plan than me! i was 23 years old and had no clue. after more than 10 years of grace...i have a life that is second to none..."i get everything i need in alcoholics anonymous - everything i need i get - and when t get what i need i invariably find that it was just what i wanted all the time" ...i thank God for aa and you people... in His grace...maleah

I am again pleased to be able to do alittle 12 step work on line.I have been very blessed with a considerable lengh of sobriety 1 day at a time.I GO TO SCHOOL on my home group night. My goal for now is to do something nice for someone and them not know about it.I go into the institutional meetings and low and behold and the inmates do something nice for me and I didn't relize it till after. WELL THATS MY STORY AND I AM STICKING TO IT.
