This we all know too well: "living life on lifes terms;" it's been our objective since we left the schools of youth. Some of us have tried to overcome it, that is the world, and others have tried to conform to it and still others have after failing at the one hand made the switch to the other and found it equally vain.

We all set out to try to save a buck, get a better deal, get more miles to the gallon, in a word: beat the system; one man milks his old car to the limit while his next door neighbor has to have the newness and swops every few years. One man says he has no payments while the other wouldn't drive such an old heap.

Yea, it goes on and on and who is to say who is right or wrong, for neither can be said to be without some foresight. In the end however the junk yard awaits them both either sooner or later and while one man knows his old heap will get there sooner the other has to work overtime to make his payments. And what, while all this is going on is God concerned with but the soul and the old rug pulling time comes for the both of them lest they die, one maybe sooner one maybe later; but I would you not be ignorant that God will do for you what you could not do for yourself and that having the rug pulled out from under you though it seem harsh and many blame God, be it a DUI or what ever else, is for your good and why? So that you might... "live life on God's terms"!!

I miss Nashville so much! Moved there sober in March 1988 just before my 2nd AA Birthday, & stayed sober until May 1992! Moved out to CA in Nov 1993... If anyone reads this & remembers who I am, please contact me, as I would love to hear from you now that I'm sober again since April 1999 (came back in Nov 1998)... I mostly knew folks at a group in a church in Antioch and the backroom at old Woodbine - Irene K, Jan T (?), Nora, Joe McG, Ron the cop & Maurice, Ron the other cop, Donna K, (handle-bar mustache) Bill, Don Roy (now deceased), and so many others, but can't remember all the names! Wonderful to find this wall & hope to hear from someone soon! I hang out at http://www.stayingcyber.org on the CoffeePot page and am very active in AA now, knowing that Service Work has made all the difference! Love & Hugs to you all!!!

These days were foretold in the Old Testament in the book of Joel, it states: Hear ye old men, has it happened in your days? Tell your children of it, and their children another generation: "That which the palmer worm hath left, the locust have eaten, that which the locusts hath left, the canker worm has eaten, that which the canker worm hath left, the catipller has eaten; weap therefore and wail ye drinkers of wine, for the new wine, for it is taken from your mouth...

Hi! I've never used a chat room before. Am familiar with AA -- for the past 30 years and still haven't got the program. I'm in trouble. Need to talk. Probably need a rehab. Kind of lonely. Being an alcholoc makes a person feel that way, as you know. New to a chat line. New to the internet. How the heck do I contact you (anyone) again if I want to? Please make it simple. I am not computer literate! Thanks!

When you "keep coming back" untill your ass falls off! Then you know: 'You have hit your bottem!' For one must reach back there to feel if his is still in place or no!

Thanks for letting me share. The views of the speakers are their own and do not necessarely reflect the views of AA as a whole. But who is to say which view or views God considers such?

Blessed is that man that has such knowledge from God to know if his views are on or off the mark. Many judge by their own openion, by what they have read or what they consider approved according to themselves. Few there be who know for sure how sober they are. A renewed mind does not come magicly when one quits drinking, but it helps.
