Well, this is my first time to ever even think about quitting drinking, and the fact that I do have a problem. I have checked out some of the site, and I think I can do it. Congratulations to all of you who have overcome alcohol, and I pray that I'll succeed as well.

Fifty days clean and sober. What a wonderful feeling! I used to live in a dark and grey world with alocohol and other things. Today I am now able to see the sun and glory that life has to offer. I had my spiritual awakening on May 9, 2003. My higher power had entered into my life and picked me up and carried me when I fell to my knees,I was saved from the depths of death. I was starting to doubt that there was a God out there. Wondering if He was hearing my prayers, asking for some kind of signal that He could hear my crys for help. I could not do it on my own. Then on that day He knew I was running out of tears to cry and my faith was restored. My doubts were no more. And through my faith in my higher power and the treatment program I was in, the fellowship of A.A. and with the strength and hope of other alocholics I will live a better life....I already am.

This might not impress some folks, but it impresses the heck out of my kinfolks. Thanks to this program, which led me to a Power greater than myself, the greatest Home Group in the world, and loving sponsorship, I don't want to drink today. I had 9 months on may frist. I thought that I would have this great knowing of AA by this time point in my soberity. Then, one day when walking to a meeting I realized that all I is how to stay sober with the basices. That is the truth. I have heard old timers and others say how the longer in the program they are the less they know. And I know that is true today. The only thing that I really know how to do is to go to meeting, pray, call my sponcer, read my big book, and work the 12 steps. That is what this program is and that is how I have stayed sober and to contuine on my path that is what I will have to keep doing. thanks

157 days and counting. Have completed 7 Steps and working on 8!! Life is better today than yesterday and there is Hope for tomorrow. Only by the grace of God and AA and people like you, yes you, have I been able to live this day, in this day, for this day, without even some much as a thought of drinking or drugging. This Program of Recovery (Discovery) is working for me! Where else on Earth are you encouraged to openly discuss character defects and how to solve the problems they cause? Where else does a person hear about self-centered fear and a hundred forms of self delusion being the problems that we carry and the solutions on how to move past them? I can't, God can, I think I'll let Him!!
